sessions has a deal with mueller, mueller will go easy on him in exchange for sessions staying on, recused, to protect mueller's job.

in ordinary times it's a wildly off the walls theory, but these aren't ordinary times and it would explain why a scumbag like sessions would stay on the job given all the abuse and protect a prosecutor who is going after top people in his party.
