Don't worry. It is such an obvious ploy. JDPriestly Aug 2012 #3

because Ryan uses divide and conquer tactics to separate those born before 1955 - they will be safe from all Medicare changes he proposes - and those born after 1955 who are f*cked.

So we're counting on older seniors caring enough about those born after 1955 to show solidarity. Let's face it that might not happen, especially if they usually vote repuke.

And older seniors know better than anyone how important it is to have unlimited Medicare benefits in particular years.

A person can be on Medicare for 20 years without beginning to use their benefits, and then, whammy, in one year the hospital bills add up.

That's the way it works. Ryan's plan is not related to the reality of geriatic healthcare.

Some seniors have chronic conditions beginning when they first become eligible for Medicare, but many, many don't really need it until they are in their 80s.

What does Ryan know about Medicare?

His father, grandfather and great-grandfather died in their 50s.

Similarly, Obama's mother died in her 50s. (Although Obama's grandparents died when they were elderly, and his grandmother lived quite long.)

From Wikipedia:

Ryan was 16 years old when he found his father in bed, dead from a heart attack at age 55. Ryan's grandfather and great-grandfather had also died from heart attacks, at ages 57 and 59 respectively.

Another Wikipedia tidbit:

Graduating from Joseph A. Craig High School in Janesville in 1988, Ryan was voted prom king and "Biggest Brown-Noser" by his fellow classmates.
