No question, he is a buffoon. And as a buffoon, he is buffoonish, which by definition has an element of comedy. And certainly Giuliani is funny. Pence is just plain weird.
But. . . the damage being done to our country is not funny. It's horrifying.
Every single thing you can imagine doing to destroy this country is being done.
From the judicial system to environmental protections.
From trade to relationships with allies to, even relationships with adversaries.
Civil rights. Gone.
Racism, bigotry, misogyny now being expressed proudly and publicly, with damn near no pushback.
Police brutality directed to people of color is up.
Complete erosion of our the distinction of our three branches of government, designed by the framers of the Constitution as an inherent form of checks and balances. Gone. Erased. There is no such thing anymore.
Emergence of a theocratic state, with no apparent brakes.
Destruction of public education.
Destruction of veterans' services.
Destruction of health care.
Destruction of the social safety net.
Definitive fascist policies - including, for example, the refusal to issue passports to US-born citizens, and the threat of removing citizenship from naturalized Americans.
Children in cages.
Increasing economic threats from China.
No change in a nuclear North Korea.
Projections of a generation or more to undo the damage.
In short, not really all that funny anymore.
Nope, not feeling very positive today.
