Advisers say Joe Biden to decide on a 2020 run by January

By Thomas Beaumont and Steve Peoples?|?AP

DES MOINES, Iowa — Shortly after Joe Biden boarded a recent flight from Washington to New York, a string of passengers began stopping at his seat in coach to deliver some version of the same message: Run, Joe, run.

“We’re with you,” one said, according to a Democratic strategist who happened to be on the plane and witnessed the scene. “You’ve got to do this,” said another.

Biden himself is more conflicted — but he is listening keenly to the supporters pushing him to run for the White House in 2020. Biden is convinced he can beat President Donald Trump, friends and advisers say, and he has given himself until January to deliberate and size up potential competition for the Democratic nomination, according to people who have spoken to the former vice president about his decision-making.

In the meantime, Biden diligently maintains a network of supporters in key states, a group 30 years in the making, while some of those competitors are still making introductions.

different from in the past. I heard less energy in his voice, perhaps simpler word choices. I don't think it was because of the occasion. I think anyone older than 70 should get a thorough mental health review before undertaking anything as strenuous as running for president.

I think he'd make a great president, though.

His experience and knowledge, especially in foreign affairs, is what we desperately need.

I know people say we need a woman, or someone much younger, and if this were another time, I'd probably agree. But Trump, and his corrupt syndicate have inflicted immeasurable damage to our nation we need a leader who not only knows what he's doing, but someone well respected throughout the world.

I've no doubt he'd be surrounded by intelligent, competent, hard working diverse men and women in his cabinet, heads of agencies/departments, and of course the VP slot. Good people unafraid to to rebuild what Trump has destroyed.
