So my wife and I went to DC for Labor Day

To visit family. We went to several Smithsonian museums and the International Spy Museum which was awesome. But hands down, our favorite museum was the National Portrait Gallery. The amazing thing to me was the fact that there was still a 20 minute wait to take a picture of President Obama's portrait. And honestly, the most popular portraits from what I could tell (minus Washington and Lincoln) were Obama, Clinton and Kennedy. They were all so interesting and diverse. The Clinton portrait is huge hanging between both of the Bushes. A few people took a pic of those but it was definitely sparse. I really think that portraits capture people for who they were.
I'm not going to lie, I got a little teary eyed when it was my turn to see Obama's. My aunt who we were with said it gets her every time. But then she said, think about how much it affects you, and then think about how much it must affect every single African American also getting a glimpse. So powerful. What a great person. I miss him.

1. I suspect many people miss him, esp. when you consider what is currently occupying the Oval Office.

I haven't had the privilege of seeing the National Portrait Gallery. It sounds amazing!

I've visited DC several times, but for limited visits only. I'd love to go and stay a couple of weeks, esp. in the off season, so I could see more and without the crowds.

Maybe someday...

You've given me something to look forward to, and for that I thank you.

And every person in line. I didn't expect that reaction but I miss him so.
