Our country, our democracy is in peril. A truly evil man with despicable and deplorable sycophants are robbing our country blind of all it holds dear. Not just money. In their quest for power they are destroying our democracy.
They have no care for the history of our country. No care for its foundation. No care for the principles we were founded upon.
They have blinded their followers with fear.
We are under attack.
Yes our issues and how we would like to see the world is worth fighting for.
Yet we are fighting and must continue to fight for the things that allow us to have those debates and fights.
Nothing is more impprtant than restoring our democracy and the values we have come to depend upon.
As I watched John McCains funeral that is what I heard loud and clear.
In this battle anyone who is fighting against this illegitmate take over and fighting with me is my friend today.
There is nothing more important than this battle for our country and our democracy. No issue is more important right now. Without our restoring America to a place of democracy, with all its good and imperfections, we will not see the day we can once again retreat to our normalcy in fighting over ideas and policies.

(15,175 posts)We are in the fight for our lives and for the existence of our country.
I hope, when we take back the Congress, that we will formally codify many of the norms that we came to expect in our elected leaders. This cannot happen again!

I had a lovely dear neighbor who taught me how to do this when I was growing up. Each year I pay a sort of homage to her and try to spend my thoughts on her and her kindness. I did do that.
But there was a pall over my day. A real yearning for returning to what we had just two short years ago. How much we have lost. Can we get it back?
We must, I tell myself. We must.

(15,175 posts)I am delightfully encouraged by some of the bright, passionate, engaged young people coming up in politics today.
I used to can with my Dad. He was a wonderful cook. We used to get lugs of fresh vine ripe valley tomatoes and make wonderful peppery marinara sauce. Canned in the water bath. Such a treat on a cold winter day to enjoy the bounty of summer.
Enjoy your weekend. Wish I were in Boston now. My daughters went there for college and ended up staying. Sigh...

(2,698 posts)when Trump's pall takes the enjoyment out of piccalilli and spaghetti sauce -- I'm serious . It's a sure sign of what a slimy, evil s.o.b. he is, oozing, as it were, through every goddam protective opening of our souls, hearts and lives. There's no escaping it as long as he remains at the center of things.

(81,527 posts)Whatever is is that we can do, small and bigger, to fight, thwart, dilute, degrade, and otherwise hobble, frustrate and uktimately reverse the bad guys.
Im sticking with the resistance. Were working on it.
VOTE, Dammit! November gives us a chance to shove big sticks into their spokes. And despite very probably continued interference by the Russians, we CAN beat them with our numbers. If we overwhelm them at the polls, theres no way they can overcome that big of a blockade. WERE the ones with the majority numbers. WE have the numbers.
IF ONLY we resolve to USE THEM!!!

(10,843 posts)We're at peril because we're at war, 21st Century style. Putin attacked us and continues to attack with the advantage of having an asset sitting in our White House.
Sounds preposterous but it's real.
Our first big battle comes on November 6th and will require everyone--18 and older--to vote out the GOP's candidates where ever possible. This will staunch the bleeding and contain the Trumpster until he's ousted. Any cat yowling we have between ourselves needs to be put aside until we regain equilibrium and put the run-away train back on the tracks.
McCain's funeral was a clarion call for action, dedication and purpose. The GOP has no intention of reining in the Mad King, so it's up to the rest of us in massive, indisputable numbers to send the message loud and clear--The Trumpster is a traitorous disaster and needs to go.
We no longer have the luxury of infighting or splitting hairs. We either save the country. Or we don't. And shame on us if we fail.
