Watching the funeral, I see the gamut of people who I find highly likeable (Obama, Bill and Hillary, Gore, Biden) to people I find highly unlikeable (Kissinger, John Kelly, John Bolton, Darth Cheney)

And whether you like any of those people or not, this wide gamut of people speaks to the unique circumstances of John McCain’s life—these were the people he interacted with all his political life.

Except for one person so loathsome, so vile, so despicable, so unlikeable that he could not be trusted to set foot into a church without the chance that he would make it all about him.

And that person is none other than the current president of the United States.

And that is a sad, sad testament to today.
