What happened to the 9th Circuit?

There have been two dreadful 9th Circuit Federal Appeals court decisions this week both involving warrant-less searches.

One was discussed earlier http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014187587

The other is a unanimous decision to require utilities to provide customer records to the DEA if they believe the records are relevant to the investigation. http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/08/customer-utility-records/ . Now I have no love whatsoever for drug dealers or growers, but I think the Court made entirely the wrong decision in this.

What happened to our previously Liberal Court?

NLRB and Consumer Protection Agency going? It was EPIC. And they have locked up about all branches of government, top to bottom, across the country when voters don't turn out to defeat them. Tough times ahead.

Even though sometimes I can't help myself from complaining about him on some issues, we just can't afford to let the right wingers pick our judges for us.

7. It was the GOP judges that selected Bush, and then shut down a good case to be made against Cheney.

They've been rabid about changing all the courts to favor their interests since the days of the Earl Warren Court. Then they used the media to push the frivolous lawsuit and tort reform, which were not reforms, more like deforms. And the abused the hell out of the judicial system through the Ken Starr era. And now we're pretty well surrounded by fascists everywhere we look. Gotta turn this around.
