I shouldnt even have to worry about what I say for fear that Im going to offend somebody racially, Daubenmire complained. What a bunch of crap that is.
They call it the N-word,' he continued. Have you ever heard of anything more stupid than that? The N-word? What is the N-word? Well, the N-word is where they call somebody nigger.
Daubenmire then proceeded to look up the word niggardly in a version of the dictionary from 1828, as well as the word nigger. When the latter was not found, Daubenmire wrongly concluded not that the word was simply not included in that dictionary but that the word did not exist at that time and is, instead, a recent creation coined for some sort of nefarious purpose.
Do you see what theyve done to us with words? he asked. I wonder where that came from? I wonder whos idea that was? Jiminy criminy.

(25,862 posts)And I suppose he wrongly assumes that the word "niggardly" is connected to the word he's not allowed to say. Oh, and the word he can't say has been around as a slur since at least the time of the American Revolution.
