Last Night was a historic night in FL. For the first time ever, we have a black

Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Florida history. This is a BIG victory for the black community.

Why are some trying to take away from Gillum's victory and keep making it all about Sanders?

Calling it "a victory for Sanders"? Seriously? This victory belongs to Gillium. He worked hard for it. He earned it.

Stop trying to takes this away from him, and from the black community. Just strop.

To give the lions' share credit for a hard won victory by a black man to white people is par for the course in this country, and unfortunately here on DU.

credit for the hard work of Black people. We have some very exciting female and minority candidates this year, and credit goes to their planning, outreach, and on-the-ground work as well as the GOTV efforts of the supporters in their districts/states. Those who suggest that a white man had to fly in to save the day are very insulting to the very ones who make up the base of our Party, and without whom we cannot win.

Florida Blacks, the Florida Democratic Party, progressive whites that have learned to look past race when helping to select a leader.
