In this context, I'm thinking using the word "performed," normally unexceptional, a couple sentences before was part of this factory-whistle monkey theme.

Wow. Well, let's see how running as the rabidly racist party works for them.

I don't think these sentences are preplanned, I think someone who talks to others and self-talks this way forms his sentences based on what he experiences as a result, and what he "hears". (when he talks to himself.) Purely inappropriate and hateful folks who are experiencing a wonderful chapter in their life. Running for office to serve his fellow man.
Get your yard signs out FLA. Get them out early. If you absolutely HAVE to buy one, do it now bc we can't keep doing this. We have lives of our own to live. We're doing politics everyday in most cases. Our representatives should be trusted silent service members.

Most people would marvel at his background, Harvard/Yale/Navy Lawyer. His supporters will ignore his voting record as they always vote against their best interests.

I noticed almost all "conservatives" in Florida fell all over themselves to mention/admire Hair Furor in their campaigns in the same manner they all ran "against" Obama during his tenure.

Gonna get nasty, uh, nastier which will make his defeat all the more satisfying. I'm putting a lot of faith in fellow Floridians to send this asshole packing.

Only monkey phrase I can think of is, "Monkey around." THAT might have been slightly more acceptable because it would have been a request to voters to not fool around. "Monkey it up," has the connotation of infusing (more) monkey into a situation or place, like, let's not let the monkeys take over.

Racist shits, the lot of them.

except fear. This is their only and most potent weapon. But instead of confronting the things we should be fearing, namely climate change, the ever shrinking middle class and as well as the growing U.S. irrelevance on the world stage, the Republicans look inward and find a domestic enemy to fear. This tactic is working, however. This fear of the other and the resulting scapegoatism will be America's undoing. Correction, it is America's undoing. A house divided against itself can not and will not stand. Gillum will have a might tall order resisting the dog whistles of the right, staying on focus and getting Floridans to see beyond fear and unite behind hope.
