Certainly anybody who mocks what is considered socially good, like, say decency, kindness, or honesty is a bad person who is working to make the world a bad place.

On the other hand, beyond simple answers ("Well have you ever tried not being mean-spirited?&quot people will have disagreements on what is socially good for all.

decent education, decent infrastructure, maternity leave, a living wage, helping the poor, sick and old. I'm sure others will add to the list.
If there is non-stop money for the killing machine, then there is money for the social good. Let the rich pay their taxes.

but of course some people would say a return to "traditional values" would be for the "social good of all."

Then again perhaps I should be clear is that statement intended for discussion on boards like this, or is it an argument we should put forth in America as a whole? If it is the former than I retract my quibbles; this question only arises if we are talking with people who have very different ideas about what the "social good of all" entails.

If they believe truth isn't truth, they probably also believe good isn't good.

There is only one 5 word phrase used in two different spots of the Constitution, with the same context.

"To Promote The General Welfare"

I don't get what part of that conservatives don't grasp.

And it's the only thing mentioned twice in the exact same context.

So, they would have to acknowledge they don't believe in the Constitution either, but they claim they do.

When considering what laws should be passed---when considering "what's fair" and what our rights and responsibilities to each other OUGHT to be---assume that you are about to be born into the world you would govern. But, you have no idea if you will be born black, white, brown or another hue; you do not know if you will be born healthy and strong or weak and ill; whether you will be born rich or poor, intelligent or mentally challenged, male, female or other.

From behind this veil of ignorance, decide what is fair and just and what you will encounter in the world you are about to enter.

Reagan and Thatcher pushed Hayek and That Neo-liberal scumbag Milton Friedman.
That's the origin of this mess.

then someone told him how to make money, lots of money of health care and he moved the needle. Now, we're here and we all deserve true health care for nominal cost. Medicare/Single Payer for all.
