Having said that:

McSally - 238,264 52.2%
Ward - 129,384 - 28.3%
Arpaio - 88.819 - 19.5%

Even in Maricopa County, Sheriff Asshole only got 18.5% of the vote. He won exactly one county - Yuma - and barely got that - 35.2%, versus 32.4% for both McSally and Ward.

Scary that 47 percent of Republicans in AZ voted for those two lunatics.

after the Goldwater debacle 1964 the nazipoohs went into thinking mode and, recognizing taking candy from a baby is very easy, providing you ignore the child, they did so. Some wise guy noted that the electorate is divided into three: 1/3rd vote fascist, 1/3rd vote antifa, so what's in play in 1/2 plus ONE VOTE of the mushy middle 3rd, iow 15 % of voters decide where society is going. As you can see, once the debate becomes narrowed (and messing with vote count etc leads to 'hanging chads' etc) it's literally taking a lollipop from a screaming kid! Thus regan, geebush, trump!
Most citizens are left out of process, by design

on the right, strongly supported by social conservatives, has risen behind Trump's populist banner. The kind of people who would support extreme, deliberately vicious cruelty to children because their leader says to would also put Democrats in cages.

Raygun said no Republican is ever wrong......

With all the Repugs I know, a rational, fact-base thought process would bust their heads wide open. Why think or read books when Faux News and talk radio can do your thinking for you (and at no charge)?

Just like going to a nail salon........

I'm glad Arpaio got shut down. He's a pardoned criminal, a hard ass racist and a total jerk. IMO there is no room in politics for him, and he should be in prison instead.
