(9,350 posts)That guy probably claims 12 inches. He might even be crazy enough to say 12 inches on a bad day when its cold outside. It would not surprise me if he tried to claim 60 inches, or that it was the biggest known to mankind. Maybe he should not claim six inches, but most likely he would and even more than that length.

(6,212 posts)many people are saying.
The skirt -- meh, it's kind of old school lady gardener, especially if the lady gardener has staff to do the actual work and the lady gardener just plans and points.
But the stilettos! No old school lady gardener would wear those in the garden, even if she needed to aerate the soil.

(4,959 posts)That's exactly what I was thinking those shoes would do.
She must be so used to basically standing on her tippy toes that she doesn't even press down with those spikes. Or she'd fall over backwards.

then they insisted that we should all vote for donnie because the whole family is so incredibly out-of-touch, they're practically gods. or something.

(102,408 posts)For a former model that can wear anything at any cost, with a few exceptions, I am generally unimpressed.
I really liked that skirt when I first saw it, as she sat in the oval office near the president with that terrifying Stepford Wife smile on her face. So very creepy looking.
Still love the skirt, though it is clearly over priced and inappropriate for planting a tree. Think I'd like it better on someone else.
hlthe2b
(102,408 posts)and while pretty, this has a vintage look to it.
The 1940s is one of my favorite decades for fashion. I'm old enough to remember the full skirts of the 1950s and for the most part, I don't miss that look. This particular skirt caught my eye though when i first saw it. I would have gone with a different top though, too tight and provocative looking for a first lady or the Oval Office, but we've never had a first lady quite like this before.

(7,888 posts)I wore model heels for years. I have deformed ankles and toe/feet issues to prove it. What was I thinking? To my credit (imo), I never wore anything that shifted focus to my breasts or looked like a carnival skirt. In the 60's, I tried to imitate Former First Lady Mrs. Kennedy. Those were the days my friends.
LeftInTX
(25,595 posts)Her waist is not that skinny. Any belly fat (although she isn't fat) is being pushed up into the blouse area.
saidsimplesimon
(7,888 posts)When my cousin told me she felt less of a woman because she had a breast removed, I told her that the size of my breasts had always made me consider breast reduction.
CozyMystery
(652 posts)There is no space left between it and her waist. Maybe I'm wrong about that part, but I still think she looks ridiculous and deformed.
She deserves to look like that, though, because she is a hideous person on the inside as well.
Chellee
(2,102 posts)I think the skirt's too small. If you look at what it's supposed to look like, on a different woman, you'll see that it's supposed to fit at the waistline.
https://modesens.com/product/VALENTINO-ROMANTIC-GARDEN-BROCADE-A-LINE-SKIRT-YELLOW-MULTI-YELLOW-MULTI-1131969/
She's got the skirt pulled up to practically right under her bustline because the part that's supposed to fit her hips is now at her waistline. I think she has to do that, because I don't think it will fit her hips. That's why the top portion of it is so fitted, and why it flares out at her hips because that part is supposed to be the swingy leg portion. It does fit her to the same spot at the knee which means that her legs are shorter than the modeled dress, which means she should have bought a skirt that fit her, and had it altered to take the hem up.
I do think it's a beautiful skirt, although I think the price is outrageous. (Even the "on sale" version I found for $1185.) I understand that quality items, made ethically, do cost more, but not this much more. She's paying a couple hundred dollars for the material and the labor, and a couple thousand dollars for the little label that says Valentino.
That having been said, it's her money, and she can spend it any way she likes, including making it rain at the couture houses. But for God's sake, they'll alter it for you. They don't expect everybody's body to be the same. Why would you not get one that fit?
LeftInTX
(25,595 posts)Yeah too small of a waist kinda acts like a girdle anyway. It looks like she can't breath!!!
I also love the skirt, but the price is crazy.

(2,340 posts)I was trying on an old black cocktail dress, halter top, deep V neckline, black crepe with chiffon (trying to paint a picture here).
My son thought that I looked like a "strumpet" in it and that it wasn't appropriate for a family wedding....btw he did admit that it looked great- just a bit too trashy for his mom. So, I threw a work shirt over it and went to get an opinion from a friend who kinda agreed with my son.
I needed do some weeding at a garden that I work at as a volunteer and considered putting on a pair of sneakers to complete the outfit, and weed in the apparently inappropriate dress. Alas, I decided that it would be better to donate it.

(86,822 posts)Out here in my neck of the woods, we wear cowboy boots with everything, summer shorts or formal attire (gowns)... totally acceptable.
I once had to go rent a Peterbilt 3 axle tractor truck and drive it across LA in a formal gown and pumps, dangley earrings, hair was down... quite a scene at the rental place when I had to stroll out past the mechanics' bays to the yard. You could hear the tools drop on concrete then silence all along the way. They were all standing at the bay doors when I pulled around to get my stuff out of my tractor that was being worked on. And then there was traffic, it was daytime so people could see me. It was an interesting day.

(86,822 posts)I was kind of cute back then and I would go on a mindblower tour every once in a while. I often wore a girl's lg Oshkosh B' Gosh overalls jumper w/boots while throwing freight, that usually gave me some bargaining power on the docks. I was doing the same job as all those guys while wearing a dress right next to them. They didn't want to touch that with a ten foot pole!
It was fun until it wasn't anymore.

(25,595 posts)She must be wearing a super tight girdle to fit her waist into that skirt.
It's making her boobs looks bigger than they usually look. If she had a more natural waistline skirt, then her boobs wouldn't be as noticable. Who knows, maybe her kidney op was a tummy tuck?

(10,893 posts)that she and her family have gargantuan dollars and that this is probably not much more than a photo OP, but still--isn't she worried about getting her dressy clothes dirty while doing her (supposed) yard work? Also this would look more sincere if she wore something less flashy. What are her handlers thinking?
