Because if the answer is nothing, that means these so called American patriots sold this country out just for the fun of it.

(13,431 posts)Hes been in Congress for over two decades. He could retire and take a high paying job with some think tank. Obviously money is not an issue it is either his job or his power which he wants to keep. Simultaneously, he seems to think voters - namely Republican primary voters in South Carolina - are deeply bigoted and wouldn't re-elect him. Hes probably right about that.
The curve ball in all of this is if he is nervous about something else leaking, such as his own corruption or treason with Russia scandal. I would not be surprised by any of these possibilities.

(11,306 posts)He's playing Trump with the goal of going to the well of the Senate, as the deciding vote to end the Trump Presidency, and extending his arm out and giving the thumbs down. Ending the Trump Presidency.

(90,848 posts)...that had people frothing at the mouth -- and I have asked here more than once. As a consequence I no longer give a damn.
All things considered, given how much he evidently loved McCain as a brother, I am just going to go with "tortured soul" and "being blackmailed," until someone comes up with something more substantive than has so far been offered.
