I identify myself as a Liberal Democrat, was a card-carrying member of the Liberal Democrats in England and Scotland. I'm more of a Social-Liberal... in the vein of the Social Democratic Party that was part of the Liberal-SDP Alliance before the two parties merged. Not an Orange Book Liberal (i.e. more toward Classical Liberalism). Definitely NOT a neo-liberal like Maggie Thatcher.

If there was a strong "Labor" or "Socialist" movement in the USA, I would expect that "party" to be vilified by those on the far right as the Marxists, etc.

We could start calling certain Republicans neo-Liberals and thus confuse the heck out of people...
