I go on Facebook this morning and....

...it's very similar to what it was before the election in 2016.

There were the same anti-Hillary blasts in their framed quotes, Benghazi, etc. There were the same anti-immigrant slogans. The same pro-Trump and anti-Democratic slogans.

I ignored them and moved on. But that does not mean they will go away. They are still there and they are up to no good.

The sad reality is that if I never go on Facebook again, these people will still be there. They will not disappear.

1. Report them.

That's what I do when I see unwanted rw ads. For a few weeks I was getting them constantly and reported every single one as fake news. I have now gone about a week without getting spammed with this nonsense, but expect it will pop up again.

How did you ever Friend such crappy people? I never see that shit on my FB, because they get immediately unfriended and blocked out, if I ever see their hate-filled and stupid posts.

It’s healthier not to expose yourself to it every day. Living in a red area, these people surround me and I basically avoid them face-to-face or unfollow them on Facebook. I’m not ignoring what’s happening in the world but at least I have some control over the ugliness in my life and I feel better. I’ve found that if I chip away at the right-wing craziness a bit at the time I can build a power base and change minds one person at a time.

but the enemy (false reporting) need to be called out. I have to believe that this results from too much concentrated wealth. Bring back the tax code of the early 1960's...all income over $250K was taxed at 90%.

Northern AZ from Mesa area...hubby took a job for a friend to paint his house - very rural area..hubby had met some of his friends neighbors a couple weeks ago when he spent time prepping -

Five days last week was enough for me..one guy who lives in an RV on another lot, behind the house stopped by the day we got there...A short welcome, nice to see you again and off he went..

The next day he came by - we had just finished taping and papering to ready for paint..I heard the two talking and all of a sudden this guy says "John is a nice guy (hubby's friend), but stupid because he voted for Hillary" as they walk towards me..hubby started to go nuts..then decided not worth getting upset - too much work to do and walked away..

I told hubby you can't save this guy..he is 5th generation Arizonian and spends all day listening to Fox..in his RV...

We needed 1 more gallon of paint to finish so off to ACE, I waited in truck and tried to find NPR on the radio - I searched FM1 FM2 and AM...No wonder their minds are warped..ie: one station debate..Steel and aluminum tariffs..BECZ, wait for it, we need to build our military weapons ourselves, open our own factories....I turned off the radio...

9. i Stopped looking at Facebook in April

We should all take a moratorium on Facebook until after the election. A massive boycott until November 7th. Let the numbers drop until Facebook does something about these fake accounts and posts.

In my email daily now since I quit I get notifications which I never look at. It’s getting Des Oscar ate the increasing number of emails I’m getting from them. Something tells me I am not the only one who have stopped Facebook.

10. Frank Luntz has taught them well
Mon Aug 27, 2018, 11:11 AM
Aug 2018

Luntz, their messaging guru spends most of his time working with focus groups.
He then comes up with the best ways and words to use in framing things.
He coined and promoted the usage of DemocRAT Party instead of our real name Democratic Party.
He coined pro life instead of anti abortion.
He coined the use of “class warfare” when Dems mention higher taxes on the wealthy.
He coined many other things as well.

And above all, he taught them all to stay on message and read from the same playbook.
He used to (because I saw one once) send out daily morning talking points to Repub office holders and their friends in the conservative media.
He also teaches ....repetion, repetition, repetition.
And, he tells office holders and spokesmen when being interviewed or questioned to always answer the question they wanted asked and not the one that was actually asked.
It’s called “the pivot”. Pivoting from a bad topic to a good one for you.
An example would be:
“Senator, how do you respond to reports that you are misusing campaign funds”
“I’m glad you asked that because fiscal responsibility has always been important to so many areas of concern in our country. That’s why my campaign is fighting so hard for a balanced budget amendment”.

Or:
“Senator what do you say to allegations of your marital infidelity?”
“I’m so glad you asked me that because my beautiful wife of 32 years, Betty Jeane and I have wanted to address just how important the family unit is to this country. Did you know that now over 50 per cent of children are being raised without both a mother and father in the home.”

Part of why these things work is the questions themselves.
Those questions above gave some wiggle room and opportunity to pivot.
The questions should have been more direct and close ended.....
“Senator have you or your staff ever misused campaign funds?”
“Senator, have you ever been unfaithful to your wife?”

If they still pivot or don’t give a direct yes or no answer, the interviewer must follow up again.
“Senator, with all due respect, you did not answer the simple yes or no question. Have you cheated on your wife”.
This is not rude or inappropriate. This is a reporters JOB. Yes, an uncomfortable part. But, the job nevertheless. The Frank Luntz people know that reporters would rather ask long winded questions that give them more air time and make them look like they are very smart. But what they really do is give politicians opportunities for wiggle room.
Hey reporters, please Just ask straightforward yes or no short questions.
