(Posted without comment) Tiger Woods on Traitor don "We all must respect the office"

"When pressed about some people being threatened by Trump "and his policy,'' as well as Woods' seemingly friendly relationship with the president, Woods said:"

"Well, he's the president of the United States. You have to respect the office. No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.''

"Asked if he had any more to say about the state and discourse of race relations, Woods said: "No. I just finished 72 holes and am really hungry.''

He's playing golf with the officeholder, not the man.

But despite this, Woods was worth an estimated $740 million in 2016 and is one of the highest-paid athletes of all time.Aug 15, 2018,

Tiger woods is telling us what we must respect? .He doesn't speak for me! ...How perfectly ironic, birds of a feather flock together and all that ..this guy who cheated on his wife wth over how many women in his short term marriage? He s defending the odious traitor, sexual predator, pervert really--of course he [woods] would. If this is what wealth buys you, a pic with a white supremacist, golfing with a corrupt criminal, abductor of 3000 refugee children then I'd rather be poor. Frankly, I don't care one way or another what he thinks, does..do you?

Before, I also felt honoring our democracy required a certain amount of restraint and dignity in criticizing its current holder.

Trump is different. Respecting this presidency that should never have happened would dishonor the office, our nation, and ourselves in much the same way applying that principle to a cockroach who was elevated to the oval office would.

if he declined to hang out with politicians and completely avoided the topic of politics, ok, maybe.

but hanging out with donnie; and, when asked about it, to say we have to support the office even if we disagree with its current occupant, that's not avoiding politics at all.

and refusing to comment on race relations is an abdication of social responsibility. in fact, he's practicing his own brand of politics -- avoiding offending his pal donnie.

absolutely nothing to respect about that.

I am not going to criticize Tiger Woods for saying we should respect the office of the Presidency. I actually agree with him on that point. However, I do wish he had no said he did not want to say anything more because he was hungry. I would have preferred it if he said he did not feel he was qualified, or in the right position to talk about such issues.

Respect for the office of the Presidency doesn't pay my bills, it doesn't ensure my nephew with a rare disease gets the care he needs, it doesn't protect the GLBTQ-Americans, Muslim-Americans, and immigrant-Americans that I love and are part of my family, it doesn't do anything for me, and I'm sure it doesn't do anything for you either.

A person can gain and lose our respect, so there is no reason why some abstract office that is held by one man, with symbolic meanings attached to it, with others in supporting roles, and others who vet it should be exempted from being able to lose our respect. And right now it's at a big negative, not just with me, but with a growing segment of America... and we shouldn't be afraid to say it.

America is more than the office of POTUS. Much more. It's time we focus on that.

Can't we just watch sports with out politics being a topic on the greens, courts, fields, pitches....let our players play...they aren't political science majors.. they are adults that play a game for a living.
