Before Trump, Fox & Friends, on the Monday after McCain died, would have devoted segments to his memory, as MSNBC and CNN did. (These two even had full page "in memory" introductions and segues)
We have seen the Republican congress warm to Russia, tariffs, needless walls, a break with traditional allies, and embrasure of traditional enemies, and look the other way as our democracy might be in the process of being drastically compromised. (And some may even be aiding in the latter.)
We have seen evangelicals condone child separation, sexual assault ("grab them by the p*ssy" , child molestation (Roy Moore), etc.
Now even the rabid, right-wing press as turned on one of its own heroes immediately after he died after spending (or mis-spending) a lifetime of service on behalf of what he thought was best for this country and Republican Party.
This mental and emotional abandonment of their traditional values and ideas not only exposes the paucity of those original ideas, but the attraction to their new idol: the unvarnished, petulant, vindictive, self-congratulatory, incurious, militantly ignorant ego, or rather, the Id run riot.
There's no soft landing, no simple waking from this.

Fox News and Hate Radio MUST BE DESTROYED, or in another 10 years we'll have another fucking breed of hate-mongers that they can no longer control.

(13,467 posts)They put the Miracle Grow in the soil Trump was planted in. Trump is their fault, period. The man is a buffoon, he could have gotten nowhere without years of preparing Republicans to accept someone like him.

(14,047 posts)The one who said, "...all men will be judged POLITICALLY - regardless of their military record!"
That's where the GOP is today. They LOVE our military service personnel and veterans... as long as they worship the Party line. And Donald Trump is "The Party".
