Not a perfect analogy, certainly.

It just seemed during the Fitzmas episode, that folks so badly wanted it to be true that some dubious sources were taken perhaps more seriously than they ought to have been.

Do you not think that is fair?

how did he encapsulate it?? Something about tectonic plates moving? Oh, I remember.

https://archives.cjr.org/blog_report/fitzmas_frenzy.php

Andrew Sullivan tries to connect the dots that lead to Cheney, and concludes that if “the prosecutor asks to interview Cheney again in the next few days, we’re into earthquake territory.” He points to a memo with information about Plame that was supposedly left in the front of Air Force One during a trip Bush took to Africa in July 2003. Sullivan asks: “Who has access to the front of Air Force One?” (Umm — the pilots?) “Here’s a plausible scenario. Very few people saw the memo. Cheney was one of them. Did Libby inform Miller and Cooper on his own initiative? Or was he part of a coordinated effort?”

After an AP report yesterday that had Rove fingering Libby as the source of his information on Plame, the frenzy accelerated. Joshua at The Water Glass quoted the article, writing the “plot thickens”: “Previously, ‘Rove testified that his discussions with Libby before Plame’s CIA cover was blown were limited to information reporters had passed to them.’ Now, it is reported that ‘Rove testified that it was possible he first heard in the White House that Valerie Plame … worked for the CIA from Libby’s recounting of a conversation with a journalist …’”

My comparison was dubious - and my calling it an analogy was just wrong/sloppy.

I've tried to clarify what I was trying to get across in other responses here. Basically: Dworkin is not a reliable source. I should have just left it at that.

I appreciate your calling me out when my posts are shaky (to say the least).

I'm all over the map on this - forget I brought "Fitzmas" up. I just wanted to make the point that dubious sources + something we want to see happen does not equal something likely to happen. Especially advising DUers to be wary of folks like Dworkin.

Back on June 2 of last year, I wrote a diary calling out a fraud and a con artist named Scott Dworkin who had been posting bullshit tales of “active resistance” at Daily Kos (making the Rec list over and over) while seeking to raise money for his organization, Democratic Coalition Against Trump:

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2018/2/7/1739482/-Yep-Scott-Dworkin-is-just-what-I-said-he-was-back-in-June-a-grifter-and-self-promoting-con-artist

Note: This is not my original work - citing the Daily Kos writer.

And he lies as much as The Dotard.

But there is a way to thread the needle. Stone said Mueller would indict Junior for lying to the FBI. If Junior gets indicted for something else, or by SDNY, then Stone is still a liar.

would be a waste of time.

drumpf won't pardon people like manafort and cohen because he doesn't want them to freely testify, and also he doesn't give a fuck about them, but he will move to protect his kids.

get drumpf out of office, then you can take the kids down with ease. they aren't going anywhere.

If it's just lying on a form or 'inaccurate' testimony, then I would say it just becomes part of his final report. But if he finds something serious, like conspiracy with the Russians, or money laundering, I think he would indict and let the chips fall where they may.

He likely wouldn't indict without (what he feels like is) strong evidence, and I think he would feel compelled to either prosecute or refer serious crimes. In other words, I don't think he would fail to pursue serious crimes because of potential political ramifications. The justice system still has to do it's job even if the political system screws it up later.

(I don't do Twitter so there's a lot I don't know)

It's "I"m hearing from lots of people" that's bullshit.

Frequently in the political world I'm reminded of the rumor mill of the moms at the schools my kids attended. I learned very quickly who actually had a small bit of inside knowledge (no one ever had very much) and who seemed to make stuff up off the top of their heads.

Here, almost every week, there's great anticipation of Mueller or Sessions being fired on Friday. This has been going on nearly since each man took his job. Oh, and John Kelly, the WH chief of staff. He's supposed to be leaving pretty much on a weekly basis. Those notions are essentially conspiracy theory, since they have zero foundation in fact, but are the product of either wishful or pessimistic thinking.

Look at some of the replies in this thread. Dworkin is basically peddling fake news.

You could post an article from freaking Palmer Report with a headline that says "Kushner, Sarah Sanders to be arrested Friday for treason" and the first 10 replies would be stuff like "Oh yeah, bring it on, finally!!"

Well, we have till Friday to see whether Dworkin is the usual joke and con that people keep falling for despite getting fed bs again and again by him.
