The country is having an existential crisis with the passing of so many intelligent voices that so many of us identify with, and Im right there in it. Ive never wanted a pendulum to swing back the other way so much.
RIP to a bright, funny writer.

I was just in San Diego and saw they were doing "Barefoot in the Park", one of my favorites. This is one death over the weekend I'll fully mourn.

(4,220 posts)Looking back at his many works it seems like a much more innocent time (even tho we know there was plenty to worry about then also). I find it harder to escape through light-hearted humor today.

(1,068 posts)And every other stage in the world. Neil Simon developed a vast array of comedy and wisdom. Such that could move so many people over his brilliant career. When they say "The pen is mightier than the sword", well.....Neil Simon's pen has fallen silent. His works however, will live on for everyone to enjoy.

(2,572 posts)As an actor, I know that he has provided work for just about every performer in the world. I've been in several of his plays, my first being Mr. Blasko in "Barefoot In The Park".
