Harry Reid's tweet about John McCain

Minutes ago:

John and I both ended our final call a few weeks ago by telling each other, ‘I love you,’ and that was how we felt about one another. There will never be another John McCain. Landra and I join the country in mourning his passing and offer our condolences to Cindy and his family.

Strange that it would take the loss of a Republican to bring us together. I'm proud to be with such compassionate folks today.

As much as I may have disagreed with his own political stance and views, he still embodied the effort to help the Country ABOVE self or party, that is the mark of true statesmanship, which is what we have not seen since this circus came to town I long for the days of compassion and humanity to take charge somehow, better than before

Such warm and heartfelt tributes from so very many. And well-deserved.

But when the time comes--and assuredly it will--who, if any, might honor the current resident of 1600 PA Ave. with thoughts such as those now being showered on J. McCain? Who? Or will there be a collective silence, or a sigh of relief, or jubilant celebrations worldwide in the streets?

How can one not contemplate the contrast between the passing of a hero and a villain?

In Hell, Putin will let him lie in state at the Kremlin, and Trump will finally get his military parade —- in Red Square.

I was remembering the solumn and heartfelt honors on the death of any president, especially JFK's, and it's unimaginable with Trump. The numbers on both sides of the protests indicate how the people in this country feel.
