(13,364 posts)As much as I may have disagreed with his own political stance and views, he still embodied the effort to help the Country ABOVE self or party, that is the mark of true statesmanship, which is what we have not seen since this circus came to town I long for the days of compassion and humanity to take charge somehow, better than before

But when the time comes--and assuredly it will--who, if any, might honor the current resident of 1600 PA Ave. with thoughts such as those now being showered on J. McCain? Who? Or will there be a collective silence, or a sigh of relief, or jubilant celebrations worldwide in the streets?
How can one not contemplate the contrast between the passing of a hero and a villain?

(205,983 posts)I was remembering the solumn and heartfelt honors on the death of any president, especially JFK's, and it's unimaginable with Trump. The numbers on both sides of the protests indicate how the people in this country feel.
