Duncan Hunter Proposed Raising Social Security Retirement Age To 72.

Per Huff Post article it was Duncan Hunter who said retirement should be 72. Were that the case then one could surmise that the time one could first take money would be 67 or 68 and the Medicare would not kick in until 70. One thing is sure about the GOP is that they want to raise eligibility quite a bit maybe as much as 5 years.

Actuarily that change would effect millions of retirees. Of course anyone under 45 would be screwed because they would make it go into effect for 45 born on a certain date.

Did you expect any less from a group that wants to kick out grandma and grandpa at the end of their earnings days?

You should take a day off and go sit with someone at your local SS office. When you retire at 62, you will get less and be 3 years from Medicare (kicks in at 65.5). Unless you have medical insurance that you can pay into out of your pocket and you have a substantial 401k, you should work until 65.5 and then retire, you get the max payout and Medicare kicks in right away. Another consideration is that if your company has layoffs and offer severance, if you are still working, you can evaluate the offer and take it, the money will be taxed, but if you have worked for some companies for a long time, some of the offers can equal 2 years of income, that will bridge you from the time you are terminated until you reach 65.5, with no substantial change in your lifestyle. In addition, some companies offer sweeteners, like a cash account for medical bills and COBRA for two years (1 year mandatory for layoffs per the ACA). In essence, by working longer, you can bridge to SS and Medicare without struggling about how to handle expenses for 3.5 years.

time. A more sensible plan would be to encourage people that are rich at retirement age to opout of benefits and collect only if their financial circumstances change for the worse.

I would propose that it be lowered to the age of 50, and tell Duncan Hunter to fuck off and go back to grifting.

Sent an email to Ted Cruz once and got a reply that he made no bones about the fact that they want to completely do away with Social Security and Medicare.

If you do, publish it online and send the letter or a certified copy to Beto's campaign.

Welcome to the Geriatric Twilight Zone, Mr. Hunter.
