Let's presume for the moment that BigBoy is impeached, indicted, and convicted, creating the horror of president Pence. What is the possibility that Pence would "DK" tRump, leaving him to swing in the breeze without a presidential pardon?
Pence is under no obligation to pardon him. tRump would have no legal recourse against Pence. Would Pence dare to turn his back on his predecessor? The Dems would be soothed, but how would the Repugs react? I'd love to think that once tRump is out of the picture, the Repugs would step forward finally and reveal their true stance on tRump.
Please, no flaming! It's an honest question, and I'm interested in your thoughts about the ramifications of such an event.

(115,866 posts)At public events Pence gazes at Trump with a look of adoration that is so creepy that it almost warrants a restraining order. But I think that's just part of his game and that he feels no real loyalty to Trump at all. And he must certainly be aware of how Ford's pardon of Nixon likely cost Ford the 1976 election, so he won't pardon Trump if he thinks doing so might have the same effect on him.

What did Omarosa say about Pence ? "He's worse than trump. Much worse."

(10,885 posts)but it's possible that won't happen before tRump is carried away, and Pence could well ascend. If that becomes the case, Pence letting tRump dangle, waiting for a pardon that doesn't come, would be the icing on the cake. It might even be the final kicker to tRump's cardiac arrest. After Mueller works his magic on Pence, we'd have president Ryan going into 2020. It would be interesting to see if he'd pick up the gauntlet and stay in for the long run.
I can believe Pence is worse than tRump. That look of adoration and loyalty doesn't fool too many. He's been measuring for the drapes since they were sworn in, just biding his time. When tRump is speaking and Pence is gazing longingly, the thought bubble over Pence's head would read "Keep talking, Asshole...one step closer to my being president."

Two degrees of separation: I know someone in Janesville who knows him, and he's actually done some work for Ryan's campaigns. I don't have a lot of inside info, but I think your assessment is accurate.

I think he goes the way of Spiro Agnew and Trump tries to install someone he thinks has less presidential ambition and will be content to serve the remainder of the term and pardon him.

You think Pence will be gone before tRump? Interesting. I hadn't pictured it that way.

(10,885 posts)I'm so impressed with his stealth tactics and the lack of leaks coming from his organization. With any luck at all, all hell will break out when he starts unveiling his findings and laying out his charges. I'll bet he's doing a bang-up job of documenting every fine point - no stone unturned.

(10,885 posts)by virtue of his direct involvement in negotiations and communications. It gives tRump the opportunity to pass the blame onto Pence with things go rotten. tRump will always take the credit, but blame always goes elsewhere. That's one of the reasons I wonder if Pence might reassess his loyalties when the time comes and turn on tRump, after realizing that tRump wasn't doing him any favors.
