Worst-case scenario for House GOP is 70-seat wipeout

Democratic enthusiasm and a GOP malaise surrounding President Trump have set the stage for a potentially devastating midterm election for the House Republican majority.

In a series of special elections mostly in reliably GOP districts, Democratic candidates have routinely outperformed Hillary Clinton’s share of the vote from 2016.

At the same time, Republican candidates have underperformed President Trump's vote share in all but two special elections.


If that pattern holds in November, the worst-case scenario for the GOP is a truly historic wipeout of as many as 72 House seats, according to The Hill’s analysis of special election results and congressional and presidential returns from 2016.

5. A fantasy of mine

When the votes are counted, Democratic candidates run the board and the election is described around the world as a referendum on the Trump presidency. Such a result would blow his mind!

that has dragged the reputation of the USA into the sewer for two years.

It blows my mind that a lawless bastard like Trump can break all treaties, trash all environmental laws and ignite racial hate nationwide and not one damn thing can stop him for two whole years!

For whatever reason, (cough, cough, Russia, cough), too many GOPers stand with Trump in spite of the fact that he doesn't represent real conservative values. They know he's a crook but they won't stand against his idiocies.

When Democrats retake the House, we'll have a balance against the Crook-in-Chief.
