It sure looks like it to me.
The tax breaks for the rich, the Wall he is determined to build, the stupid parade that apparently he was told to call off, the tariffs....

(52,383 posts)he admires putin because putin successfully stole massive amounts of russian government assets and handed them over to cronies and himself.
donnie wishes he could do the same here.

(9,527 posts)That would require he be smart enough to do so and be able to stay focused long enough. He's both incredibly stupid and he can't focus on a tweet long enough to spell correctly. I'm much more inclined to blame his incompetence and arrogance.

(6,110 posts)The stock market 90% owned by the top 10% are much richer since he was elected (+40%). Corporate profits are booming with rate reduction from 35% to 21%.
But Middle class is scraping by paycheck to paycheck, and can not afford health insurance without federal subsidies. Wage increases are pitiful.

(58,785 posts)Republican administrations have been deliberately running the nation deep into debt as SOP before leaving so that incoming Democrats have to cancel their planned advances.
Now, their power has built to the point that they hope to be able to break progressive government once and for all, economically, politically and, most importantly, judicially.
This is why we HAVE to get control of the senate, not just the house, in the midterms.
Both the 2020 census/reapportionment and the makeup of the Supreme Court depend on it.

The parade is solely for his ego. The tariffs, pardons and revoking of security clearances are all 'toys' he has been given unfettered access to and he loves using them to showcase his power and to seek unparalleled vengeance.
Sociopathic narcissists just wanna have fun!

(24,380 posts)The debt of the US Government is denominated in Dollars.
The US Government owns the presses that print those dollars.
Of course doing so Willy nilly would mean disastrous inflation, but the fact is, they could pay off the debt in a week

Worker protections, civil right protections, social welfare protections.... They all cost money and are opposed by Republicans. It has long been felt by Republicans that "bankrupting" the country will force the oppressive changes they want.

(25,908 posts)It allows him to cast off debt and any remaining unpaid bills. For him there have never been the kinds of consequences that an individual bankrupt faces.
Although, as has already been pointed out, the country can't really go bankrupt. Not in the same way an individual or business does.

(62,465 posts)Well Republicans will way overfund military and cut damn near everything else from education to Medicare to Arts etc.

(32,820 posts)The country was never broke, but Reagan decided that rich people shouldn't have to pay taxes.
Pretty much everything else has happened because of that.

(11,885 posts)And using his asset trump to carry it all out. Watch as trump goes from one thing to another helping putin promote their planned agenda for him to help putin , and hurt this country for him. His slogan is again the opposite from the truth, he's probably using a GRU/FSB inspired slogan probably , but in reality helping promote anything for putin he wants that he can do now for him. trump's his asset, and he will be exposed, its coming.

(16,104 posts)They oppose the general welfare programs we have, but acknowledge people like them - so maybe push them down to the state level.
They fight tooth and nail against any new social programs, like universal health care and free tuition.
They argue these programs are all Constitutionally reserved for the states, 10th Amendment.
Problem is, the Republicans at the state level don't want to fund social programs, either. Their churches provide all the social services they need - and charity, of course. Tax deductible, too.
