...but back in the day, there was an episode at the White House where some people thought Aretha had shaded Patti by avoiding her handshake. It was blown all out of proportion; over time it led to talk of a bitter feud between them and eventually led to a fictitious article being written that said the two divas had actually come to blows and been arrested.

Patti posted a heartfelt, gracious tweet earlier today and a few days ago called her "the greatest singer of all time".

“We sincerely apologize to Aretha Franklin’s family and friends. Our intention was to honor the icon using a secondary image of her performing with Patti LaBelle in the full screen graphic, but the image of Ms. Franklin was obscured in that process, which we deeply regret,” said Jessica Santostefano, Fox News’s VP of media desk, in a statement.

Because YEAH, when someone passes away IT'S SO MUCH SMARTER to use a group shot of them that's SO EASILY MISTAKEN which one is the actual subject and you DON'T FUCKING VERIFY WHAT THE HELL YOU'RE DOING because it's SO HARD TO CHECK GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH and then CROP THE WRONG PERSON OUT because THIS HAPPENED SO LAST MINUTE and you DIDN'T HAVE AN ENTIRE DAY TO CHOOSE AN APPROPRIATE PHOTO.

Easy mistake Fox. Sure. I mean fucking whoopsie!...unless you're a NEWS STATION. Or even an ENTERTAINMENT STATION.
