Editing to add that I've seen a number of tweets this morning showing Trump with Aretha at the grand opening of one of his hotels in 1997, but I haven't been able to find anything about her performing there -- or at any other Trump property -- and even if she had, that wouldn't constitute "working for him."

It was a very demeaning thing to say about her. intended to remind people he thinks he's her superior.

and according to later tweets in that thread, Aretha did give a private concert before the opening of a new Trump building in 1997, and also performed concerts at a couple of his casinos. But that does NOT qualify as "working for" him. And Trump's wording was especially demeaning today, of all days.
