I'm gratified to see the newspapers stand up for themselves at last, but unless there is a consistent commitment and follow through, today's editorials will be a lonely marker of a bygone era. The administration has to pay a price for its consistent demonization of factual reporting it doesn't like.

The Boston Globe organized today as the day lots of newspapers publish editorials defending the press.

......unless we support it with subscriptions.

Local newspapers still are a major tool for accountability. If all our information comes from MSNBC and Democratic Underground, we will forfeit the fourth estate.

7 days of Philadelphia Inquirer, Sunday NYT. Although the Inquirer is doing its level best to make subscribers give up by cut, cut, cutting content and dumbing down what's left.

tRump, his many cohorts, the GOP congress, and their plutocrat friends will do everything underhandedly possible and within their power to close these papers down. Watch for web site hacks, personal attacks on employees, changes in tax rules and laws and material tariffs just to inflict maximum pain and financial loss. It's guaranteed that Russia will help them.

These moves by tRump toward autocracy using raw tyranny against our free press must end........
