Husband of pregnant Frederick woman detained, has confessed to killing her and 2 daughters

FREDERICK, Colo. -- Denver7’s Jace Larson has been told by two law enforcement officials that the husband of the missing Frederick family has confessed to killing them and officials believe they know where the bodies are.

The law enforcement officials said police were in the process of recovering the bodies late Wednesday, adding Chris Watts, 33, had been detained. A cause and manner of the deaths have yet to be determined.

Earlier Wednesday, both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation joined in the search for Shanann Watts, 34, and her two daughters — 3-year-old Celeste and 4-year-old Bella — who were reported missing out of Frederick on Monday. ...

1. I've been following this on local FB sites.

Knew it probably wasn't going to end well. I was hoping the mom took the kids and ran. It's mighty close to home and everyone is heartsick. As I said on a local site, he is probably a sociopath. How else could you kill your pregnant wife and two little girls. No capacity to love. Why couldn't he just kill himself? Hope he rots. I'm so angry right now.

I wouldn't be so quick to label him a sociopath given that about 1,100 women a year are killed by their partner.
