It happened for real once, in 1956 or 1957 when I was in 4th grade. Sound of an airplane that became loud, louder, loudest -- and at the point we could barely hear out teacher command "Drop!" we scrambled under our desks and a military jet crashed next to our school.

We were all convinced in that moment that it was The Bomb -- not that our little desks would have helped in the least against an atomic bomb.
