Internal documents obtained by CNN show that Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) remains a fundraising juggernaut for House Democrats as they battle to pick up the 23 seats they need to retake the House majority for the first time since the GOP won control of the chamber in the 2010 midterms.
Through June, Pelosi had raised an eye-popping $83 million for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for the 2018 election cycle, more than double the next closest Democrat, according to an internal list for the group charged with electing more Democrats to the US House of Representatives. A source briefed on the matter said that through July she had raised nearly $91 million for the party committee, which is spending big in hotly contested races including where Democratic candidates are running away from Pelosi.

(6,228 posts)Why do some left leaners not like Nancy? She is an excellent leader who pulls the Dems together.

I think there is some validity in that argument. Schumer & Pelosi have been very late to the game in understanding what they're dealing with in Trump, as well as the House and Senate Republicans. It's hard to see a situation has drastically changed if you've been in the same pot of boiling water for years. They have been mild in their statements, falling for Trump tricks a time or two.
But they are good in other ways in their jobs.
Both sides have validity. Neither should be based on their likability.

(3,425 posts)That is really good news. We have not had a serious challenger since he was elected and the democratic primary winner does not seem very visible yet. But, as my dear old dad used to say "Hope Springs Eternal".

(32,640 posts)She doesn't react defensively, and that drives her detractors up a wall. They expect a woman to either crumble or try to be "more likeable" when she's attacked - especially if she's older. (see also: Hillary Clinton)
When she called McConnell, "whatshisname" when asked about it, and talked about how more unpopular he is, I fell out.

But the leaders of the Dem Party isn't normally an endorser of primary candidates. That not their job. They represent their group after they are members of the Senate and House.

She's no pipsqueak "sorta Dem" going around endorsing wackadoodle candidates. She is The Real Deal.

(37,648 posts)It is a given that she and Schumer endorse ALL Democratic Party candidates, when in a race against another party.
As for wackadoodle candidates, they will also stand aside and give money to Independents, if they lean liberal and have a shot of taking a Republican seat.
Their job is to represent their group AFTER they are elected to the House & Senate. And apparently get as much money as possible. Historical funding is a good sign.
