Last Night on MSNBC, John Brennan Said Trump Is 'Feeding and Fueling Hatred'

On Wednesday, the White House press secretary Sarah Sanders announced that President Donald Trump was revoking former CIA director John Brennan‘s security clearance.

In announcing the move, Sanders cited Brennan’s “erratic conduct and behavior” and political commentary that “calls into question his objectivity and credibility.” The White House’s move just so happens to come one day after Brennan said this in response to Trump’s tweet calling fired White House staffer Omarosa Manigault “a dog”:

And, as it turns out, Brennan did not limit his criticism to Twitter.

Speaking on MSNBC Tuesday night, Brennan offered a scathing rebuke of Trump, noting the current POTUS has “badly sullied the reputation of the office of the presidency.”

“America’s standing the world has been tarnished,” Brennan told host Lawrence O’Donnell, noting Trump “is the most divisive president we have ever had in the Oval Office. He is feeding and fueling hatred and animosity and misunderstanding among Americans.”

Then, speaking on Trump’s hiring of Manigault, Brennan stressed that there is an established vetting problem in this White House as well as an atmosphere of mistrust that seems to pervade the White House.

“The fact that Donald Trump feels this sense of insecurity, that he has to get people to sign these [non-disclosure] agreements, really I think reflects the lack of sophistication, the lack of competence and the lack of trust that the people in the White House have for one another.”

He concluded by noting that as a result of Trump’s actions and policies, “Russia and China are pointing now to the untrustworthiness of the United States.”
