Clinton praises child who kneeled during Pledge of Allegiance: 'Keep up the good work'

Hillary Clinton on Wednesday praised an 11-year-old girl who was disciplined for kneeling during the Pledge of Allegiance.

A student of Catonsville Middle School in Baltimore County, Mariana Taylor was inspired by former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick to kneel during her class’s Pledge of Allegiance, according to The Washington Post.

The third time she took a knee during the pledge, Taylor’s teacher told her she was breaking school rules, according to the American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland, which quickly became involved in the dispute.

Taylor’s teacher said she should stand to honor the positive aspects of America, rather than kneeling because of the negative ones. She also told Taylor that she had family overseas and that Taylor was being disrespectful to the country.

“I left the classroom in tears,” Taylor said in a video posted by Now This. “It is in my rights that I am allowed to kneel.”

Takes a little courage to make that tweet too. And seriously its an 11 year old who is showing a political conscience, and you're going to try to squash that? Shame on you teacher.

it includes the principle of "liberty and justice for ALL". What part of that is confusing for the teacher? For one thing, let's say for the sake of argument that Taylor is part of the ALL. That would mean she has certain liberties, which would include kneeling, reciting the pledge or remaining silent. See how liberty works, you doorknobs?
