(8,200 posts)I sincerely hope that the citizens can be awaken from their apathy to realize that their precious freedoms that they take for granted are in serious jeopardy. The key step to any dictatorship is control of the press. When the free press is silenced then the only source of information is the ruler's propaganda machine. This is the foundation upon which every dictatorship has been established.
The founding fathers of our nation were well aware of its primacy and made freedom of the press the essential requirement for the Republic's survival. It is my firm belief that the Republican Party is committed to establishment of an authoritarian presidency. This is not a recent development but has been the goal since the presidency of Reagan. Most recently, during the Bush administration, the neo-cons advanced the so-called principle of the Unitary Presidency. It is defined as investing in the president absolute authority over every agency of government. It totally destroys the separation of powers up on which the government was founded. It would effectively create a government identical as those of Russia, China and several recently emerging dictatorships. It is the form of government that Trump holds in admiration and covets.
It isn't complicated. The silencing of the press is just the first and essential step to the fulfillment of their vision of a totalitarian government. The continued apathy of the citizens is essential to their success. At present thirty percent of the nation is totally under their control. It only remains for the majority of the remainder to continue their disinterest to accomplish the biggest unbloody coup in history.

(14,154 posts)If anyone has the audacity to make disparaging remarks about him it is trDump's right and duty as King to banish such an insubordinate subject from the realms of his kingdom. That individual should consider himself lucky the King does not immediately put him to death for having committed such a grievous act against the crown and royal family.

(9,426 posts)the people who rise to the top are the best, brightest, most intelligent. The "cream of the crop" Having tRump as their leader shows that the gop is nothing but a group of stupid people. They are all cowering in their offices, afraid to ever show up for their constituents, because they are afraid of an inarticulate, low intelligence, no class, uncouth piss poor excuse for a "man". How anyone can vote gop and insist that they love this country is a joke. tRump has destroyed any vestige of respect from around the entire world that the USA used to have. He is a fraud.

(3,818 posts)The "Peter Principle" is therefore expressed as: "In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence."
"In time, every post tends to be occupied by an employee who is incompetent to carry out its duties."

(25,858 posts)Often it is the lowest level employees who are the most competent, and they don't get promoted because if they were, there would be no one to do the actual work of the organization.

(9,090 posts)media and analysts are getting this wrong. the GOP are afraid of limbaugh, not trump
limbaugh regularly mentions those names including ohr, as part of the deep state cabal working for obama clinton soros for over a year. that's why it's them, and the con pols know it even if the dems and media don't, because they get the buzz even if they don't listen to it themselves.
limbaugh has trump's back and averages a "trump" every minute, and it's all good. all excuses for trump and attacks on his critics - in either party. trump and putin probably pay him. few republican politicians who get mentioned negatively by limbaugh a few times lasts.
at the local level it's the local limbaugh radio imitators/wannabes and the dittohead base, like the nunes donor who asked nunes about firing rosenstein, who make sure the candidates who parrot the talking points advance.

(12,344 posts)He is flouting the law with impunity, saying he is not accountable to anyone, in effect daring Mueller to indict him, and daring the courts to assert their independence.
Watergate precedent: The Watergate grand jury actually did indict Nixon. Independent counsel staff agreed and wrote it up for Jaworski's signature. He refused to sign because he thought it would interfere with existing prosecutions. But this is different. It's clear Trump will interfere with any prosecution involving his campaign, so Trump has to be dealt with somehow.

(180 posts)He thinks that destroying someone's career will stop them testifying against him, maybe because this has worked in the past.
Only - these are extremely dedicated people, dedicated to the United States, not Igolf Twittler and his band of pirates. Revoking that security clearance and getting this guy fired would only make him far MORE likely to testify against the Trump Gang. Hairy dimwit doesn't realize that, I guess.
He is messing now with people who put their lives on the line for this country, not just their jobs!

(58,349 posts)I think that quite honestly, given the way that he conducts his "businesses" which is to sacrifice anyone anytime for any reason, and a life with other business people who are loyal to nothing other than their paycheck or money in general and who will sell out anyone or themselves for a dollar or to avoid being punished - Donald simply doesn't understand that many people can be very loyal to an idea, or a country, or to silly things like the law, justice, fairness, and that there are a great people who will sacrifice themselves out of loyalty to those ideas.
I've known that he has no loyalty to anything other than himself, but it hadn't occurred to me that probably also doesn't even get the concept of it - but his actions recently certainly seem to show that he doesn't think anyone would continue to come at him if he revokes their security clearance, or has them fired, or threatens them.

(9,426 posts)he is sure that Vlad will come through for the gop and fix the elections once again. He does not seem to be afraid to act on impulse, and just do as he pleases. In a perfect world, the entire staff at the WH would all quit, walk out in unison, and leave the traitorous bastard sitting alone until he is impeached, or committed whichever comes first. What a glorious day it will be when he is removed from office.
