The New York Times has announced that it will be joining a coordinated effort with newspapers across the country to publish editorials taking a stand against President Trumps repeated attacks on the media.
As of Tuesday, more than 200 newspapers, including The New York Times, had signed on, Jaclyn Peiser, a reporter for the Times, wrote in an article announcing the paper's move on Tuesday morning.
According to The Times, the paper will be publishing its own editorial denouncing the presidents attacks on the media, along with the hundreds of other large metropolitan daily newspapers and smaller publications, on Thursday.
Our publisher has put a stake in the ground on this issue, and at a time when newspapers around the country are under real commercial and political pressure, we think its important to show solidarity, James Bennet, the editorial page editor of The Times, said in the article, citing the stance of the newspapers publisher, A. G. Sulzberger, in joining the nationwide effort.

wtf, this makes it appear as if the media is coordinating a personal attack on donnie, exactly as donnie is trying to tar the media as out to get him.
this media effort is not about "targeting trump" but about fighting back specifically against his attacks against the media.
horrible headline!
gratuitous
(82,849 posts)How many times has President Trump called the independent media "the enemy of the people"? The Times and other news outlets have finally decided that that's not a very nice thing to say. In fact, it might almost be considered in some quarters to be hostile to a functional democracy.
I supposed if the dirty fucking hippies hadn't objected so loudly the first time Trump popped off about reporters and news outlets saying things he didn't like, the Times and the Post and the rest of them might have gotten around to this sooner. I just hope none of these newspapers say anything uncivil.
