Over the course of 70 years, the trusted, ordained men of God, more than 300 in all, raped and abused more than 1,000 boys and girls with impunity while serving an institution that routinely shuffled them from parish to parish, giving them license and enabling them to prey upon new victims.

“The main thing was not to help children, but to avoid scandal,” the report says. “Priests were raping little boys and girls and the men of God who were responsible for them not only did nothing: They hid it all.”

Prosecutors have said Erie Diocese priest David Poulson assaulted a boy more than 20 times and would later, in a sickening twist, require the boy to confess the abuse to him.

What if this was so widespread in Islam, e.g.? How long before the religion was disbanded, nation by nation at least where the religion was not in control of government?

2. Clearly unconscionable. The Global RCC should be disbanded, its

properties auctioned off and the proceeds given to organizations that fight child sexual abuse. This should be over, once and for all, and the hierarchy of the church scattered to the winds.

I don't doubt there are more recent cases, that are proecutable.

There's a good docu series on Netflix, about the murder of Sister Catherine Cesnik, and a cabal of molester priests and Baltimore cops, called The Keepers.

meeting with the Pope IN PRIVATE. Typical, hide the "problem" out of sight, and then claim the credit.

Either you have a sign condemning abuse on your church's front yard, or you're complicit.

But that has to be backed up with proactive scruitiny by non-religious civic officials.
