(115,706 posts)He's like a slightly more congenial Scott Walker, and he tried his best to turn Minnesota into a cold Alabama (kind of like Walker did to Wisconsin). I'm delighted that he didn't win the primary.

(20,818 posts)and I was really pleased, although surprised, to hear the opposition to Pawlenty even among Republicans. Surprised, because the narrative of the media, even the anti-Pawlenty media, was that the strength of his name and record and fundraising was such that his primary win and subsequent candidacy was pretty much a done deal and there'd be no point in anyone else running against him. This was heavily pushed by him, of course, along with his arrogant egotistical contention that MN was in such bad shape after Dayton and the Dems that it was badly in need of his oh-so-great wisdom and abilities, considering he'd done such a "great" job previously (GAG). He and the media seemed to forget that both times he won it wasn't with a clear majority.
But even most republicans I knew, or heard, had the opposite views and wanted no part of a second go-round with him as governor. I just love the thought of his smarmy, smug, arrogant, egotistical ass being smacked down but good and really wish I could see his face in private right now, LOL.

(28,078 posts)Not that I'm a fan of Johnson but I love seeing Pawlenty lose. I only wish I could see his face.
Jeff Johnson lost to Mark Dayton, hopefully he'll lose to the DFL again.

(13,871 posts)Said both repubs trashed Trump when he first announced, and then spent their debates with each claiming to have meant it less.
Does their party not understand math? Yes 2/3 of the party loves Trump, but 60% of the electorate cant stand him. Hell win you a primary, but then how do you win the anti-Trump vote in the general election?

(10,721 posts)The fact of the matter is, Trump's endorsement carries a lot of weight. So, what choice does a Republican seeking his or her party's nomination really have?
