WASHINGTON President Donald Trump frequently used nondisclosure agreements to protect his reputation as a real estate magnate and television star, but legal experts said Monday the documents are useless at controlling former White House aides.
Trumps feud with Omarosa Manigault Newman, the former White House staffer publishing a book critical of the president, reignited a debate about the use of nondisclosure agreements to bar aides from discussing the administration.
Trump blasted Manigault Newman in a series of tweets, describing her as "wacky" and "not smart." He also appeared to confirm the White House requires employees to sign non-disclosure agreements, saying Manigault Newman agreed to sign one before writing her book.
But experts questioned Trump's use of the agreements at the White House, noting that the First Amendment prohibits the government from restricting an employees ability to speak up about what they saw while working in a public job ...

she's got some celebrity, so the bar may be high, though i'm not sure it applies in the context of her white house job.
in any event, he's clearly trying to damage her reputation, which isn't good for his case....

(24,396 posts)who he knows dont have the financial wherewithall to defend themselves from the imagined legal onslaught of a (fake) billionaire. He makes threats that have no legal basis. But his targets just assume the threat is legit.
