Why Strzok was fired at this time?

Mueller had relieved him of any role in the Russian investigation more than a year ago, but he was still being used as an alibi by Trump and his lawyers. He was "biased". His "bias" made the entire investigation illegitimate, they said.

In my opinion, the FBI fired him at this time to take some of the ammo away from Trump's attacks on the FBI and the Mueller investigation. They must have felt that there is a serious move to end the investigation and this might take away one of their excuses?

Just my opinion.

Speaking of which, anyone heard anything about McCabe's ongoing legal efforts?

It does appear that he may have lied to the FBI. He quickly tried to "clarify" but his statement about the confusion of the time leading to him being less than candid always bothered me.

Strzok has a much stronger case.

and more whiny then usual. Whatever shuts him up, and firing people pleases the fat ass. He might shut up for a few hours. He's not putting in a dime on the federal lawsuit, so this is his remedy.

It's not the why and when, it's The Who that is the problem.

No, its stupid Trump thinking that, once PS is testifying against him, they can point to his firing to somehow discredit him. It was the same reason why McCade was fired. They are reaching at everything they can. Its a legally laughable argument, because the person who ordered the firings is the person being investigated. Dumb ass Trump actually believes him firing the people investigating him harms their credibility in said investigation. Its bizarro world nonsense that con men such as Trump expect you to believe.

You can bet that his firing will be top billing on all the conservative news networks and you can expect a tweet from Trump himself about it within the next day.

They'll use his firing as an excuse as to why Trump should clean house and shut down the investigation.
