It's one thing to talk about what he disregards or is too lazy to learn, and another to turn it into a joke. I see it coming from people I have thought of as allies, but what escapes them is that they are participating in an ableist assumption of their own superiority. It has been the insult leveled at people who have head injuries, cognitive disabilities, etc. It is an oppressive humor that backfires by revealing the very same callousness that Trump reveals in tweets he uses to proclaim his own superiority. The implied elitism also leads people whose insecurities he has comforted to dig in. You don't have to court and indulge them to recognize their humanity and avoid insulting them.

His disturbing habits not political opportunities, they are dangerous if they are based in negligence and terrifying if there is intention behind it. His conspiratorial claims about election numbers could not have served the GOP better. Preemptively promoting insecurity about elections and creating opportunistic environment for the GOP to take power over the process with committees and commission to study the problem and dismiss evidence that outside influences worked in his favor. If he was just deluded and rambling as some thought, it could not have been a happier accident for the elements who have been seeking to suppress votes for decades.

Basking in the opportunity to call someone who is powerful dumb does nothing to further the cause to prevent future damage this presidency could do.
