given where she's been because probably some things are true, or partially so. The question isn't whether she has "integrity issues," that's well established by her as well as others, but what Kelly was using to fire her (he has his own integrity issues of course). One thing we can assume: future historians will mine Newman's book for information and clues and no doubt still argue long after we're all dead about which statements have been verified sufficiently to cite.

Btw, I can't help thinking that, in the #metoo era, it'd be very strange if Kelly didn't have means of protecting himself from accusations from Newman. When a man is firing and a women is being told security would escort her out, guessing it's just as SOP as in a dentist's office.

Whatever the Russians tried to leave behind should have been found immediately. Employee subterfuge (secret recordings etc.) is something they wouldn't be able to find in a regular sweep.

I'm wondering how the WH employees are able to bring in their personal cellphones, I thought they had to leave them at the security check-in door when they come to work. Government-issue cellphones are allowed in the office but not personal ones.

If I were in charge, no personal cell phones would be allowed inside the White House. Employees would check their personal phones at security and be issued devices to be used internally. Family members would be given instructions to call an emergency number, if necessary. Otherwise, internal communication would be similar to the days before cell phones. Maybe pagers would be okay.

Without any indication except for a tiny red icon at the top of the status bar of your phone. You can browse the web or even watch a video (the video will be picked up by the recorder) while doing it, so it can be totally inconspicuous.

One such app is Smart Voice Recorder which came invaluable for me at one point for reasons I won't get in to. And you don't need to hack your phone for it to work. It just takes over the mic and hides in the background and the audio quality is fantastic.
