Several reporters say the Ellison charges are flimsy, that reporters looked into them over past year, and everyone concluded there was nothing to run a story over.
The accuser had been tweeting at Ellison and media outlets for more than a year. Apparently, some outlets dug into the story, and didn't find enough to run with.

From MPR: There is no evidence in the messages reviewed by MPR News of the alleged physical abuse. Total innuendo. Completely without any evidence.

Lets not let the bad faith right wing media crucify Ellison over flimsy stuff. If strong accusations come out, fine - but we are not there. Ellison appears to have acted ethically given what we now know.

(21,155 posts)It is definitely a repuke hit job because they are wary of Ellison. He is known to speak his mind and is a threat like Franken was.

(1,117 posts)Search for ellison texts on twitter and you get known rightwing liars and provocateurs Cernovich and Fairbanks as prominent hits. And lots of other rightwing troll accounts, many with red Xs.
Dave Weigel knows his stuff. Given what we know now, I support Ellison.

(14,972 posts)Especially considering that Ellison has been a right wing bugbear for a long time. You know, as a black guy who actually IS a Muslim and not even the secret Obama kind. And that's before one considers his position within the party, and the right wings history of "dirty tricks" and other political smear-jobs which try to leverage progressive values against progressive politicans.
Maybe it is all true. I don't know. But I'm not going to be quick to form an opinion based on the little I know so far. I'll wait until I've learned more.

For my part, I'm not going to say he's innocent or guilty of these charges. How the fuck would I know from here?
