Kavanaugh Hearing Date Set for September 4 in Senate
The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a three- or four- day confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh starting Sept. 4, Chairman Charles E. Grassley, R-Iowa, announced on Friday.
That means the marathon hearing will begin the Tuesday after Labor Day.
The White House quickly reacted to Grassleys plan: With the Senate already reviewing more documents than for any other Supreme Court nominee in history, Chairman Grassley has lived up to his promise to lead an open, transparent and fair process, spokesman Raj Shah said in a statement.
The Senate panel on Thursday released about 5,700 pages of records on Kavanaughs work as a White House lawyer during the George W. Bush administration. It is the first records from the National Archives released as part of the confirmation process.
