(9,202 posts)The show was based on Robert Heinlein's novel, Space Cadet. He sold them the rights to the name, and received a weekly royalty check while the show was on the air. However, upon reading some of the scripts after the show had been on for a year (Heinlein had no TV at the time), he was glad that the show aired without a "based on" credit. He didn't want his name directly connected with something so stupid and sophomoric. I can only image what he would think of Trump's Space Farce.
