Crocs Inc. said that it's closing all of its manufacturing facilities, and announced that its chief financial officer will resign.
Crocs (CROX), based out of Niwot, Colorado, noted in a press release Tuesday that a facility in Mexico will shutter and there are plans to close one in Italy. It's unclear what the future of production will be.
The company said Carrie Teffner, executive vice president and chief financial officer, will leave Crocs effective April 1, 2019.
You can have these when you pry them from my cold, dead, polka dotted, smelly feet!
Quick, run to the stores and get all you can while you can. The future of Crocs Ugly- assed Nerf footwear for people who've given up on life is unclear.

(7,529 posts)Unortunately for the company my Crocs (and everyone elese's) have lasted forever. One company that never learned the value of planned obsolesence. (:
I love my Crocs.

Oh, and the nubs in the insole massage the feet.

(7,529 posts)Wearing around the house, short trips, they are great and have helped my foot problems. The only problem is I wear them with socks in the colder months - a fashion faux pas I am told, not that I care.

(146,333 posts)Ugliest damn shoes ever! Someone bought me a pair to use on the boat. I said, "Thanks," and buried them at the back of the closet. A couple of months later, I donated them to Goodwill. They're probably still in the store. UGLY!

(5,164 posts)I love my crocs and they reduced my foot and spinal pain. 2 years ago I switched to fit flop which is better for pain and support and they nave numerous different styles.

(22,503 posts)explain a bit more how it helps you? I have chronic back pain that has really caused me to stop doing many things.
Meowmee
(5,164 posts)How it helps, it may be the micro wobble board. You have to get the shoes with the micro wobble board because they are very thick, soft, supportive soles that spread the pressure to take stress off your feet and spine. I bought my first pair at Marshalls about 2-3 years ago, an open sandal which I now wear in the house all the time, and I knew the minute I tried them I was going to buy them. You can send them back with free shipping if you dont like them. I also wear sketchers air sneakers. My favs in fitflop are the working clogs which have an ankle strap, a pair of loaffers and loaff boots which are water proof. I have a thin heal and a wide front foot with long toes so it is hard to find a boot which fits me properly.

(23,158 posts)I don't care how dirty they get or how dirty my feet get in them, I just wash all off with a hose, let them dry and I'm good for the next time. Here in humid stiflingly hot north FL, weeds grow in the blink of an eye and if you can't afford gardeners & love having pretty flowers and a nice yard, you have to put in significant time to make that happen. I've used lots of different kinds of shoes over the years but these work by far the best for me and last the longest in adverse conditions.

(25,559 posts)Keens aren't cheap, but I marched the entire gay pride parade in them. And I've got peripheral neuropathy. I would never attempt to march in a parade in Crocs.

I've had mine since 2010. I love them.

(12,221 posts)I think Keens cost more. So, I may try them. The New Balance appear to be lesser quality: I think I only paid like $39.

(23,158 posts)I love them, but don't want to use the for gardening, they get too dirty. I don't care if my Crocs end up all mud encrusted, I can just scrub them off and they look fine. My teevas' weren't cheap and it's hard to find shoes that are so adjustable for my weird feet.

(8,086 posts)(and from this thread apparently many do) if indeed this company is closing plants that means those people working there will soon be out of a job, which is no laughing matter at all.
Making shoes is, IMHO, a fairly innocuous way to make a living. It's not like being a hedge fund vulture capitalist or something. These folks will suffer, and if their worst crime is making shoes that don't mean some esthetic standards--well, there are a whole lot of worse ways to make a living.
So--my condolences to these employees, and hope things work out for them and their families.

(46,166 posts)An article from yesterday:
Last Updated Aug 9, 2018 6:02 PM EDT
Crocs sparked a minor panic among fans of its colorful plastic clogs by announcing on Wednesday that the company is closing the last of its manufacturing facilities. But mule-lovers can rest easy -- the footwear maker isn't going of business. Rather, Crocs -- which is profitable -- is closing factories and shutting some stores in a move to cut costs and boost earnings.
Wall Street is pleased. Crocs shares, which have risen 49 percent this year, nosed up further on Thursday.

I still wear mine to do yard work or other messy jobs.
It's kind of funny how our "society" deems high heeled shoes, which are soooo bad for the feet and back as "good" but these ugly ones that are so comfortable and helpful to the body as ugly and people who wear them are shamed for wearing them!

(2,960 posts)a blue guy elected in a red city BTW, always wore Crocs on and off the job. Constantly mocked by the local media. His reasoning I believe was due to his diabetes. Dress shoes rubbed his feet the wrong way which could cause problems.

(29,570 posts)I sent Crocs an email saying I would never buy their stuff and would ridicule people I saw wearing their "footwear." I got a nasty response from them about "the President of the United States"-like he was elected, not installed. I wish I still had that message but it got killed in a computer crash. I still ridicule people in crocs, saying I have to because I made a vow.
