Nunes suggested at private fundraiser that GOP majority is needed to protect Trump

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) suggested at a private fundraiser last week that Republicans have to maintain control of the House in order to protect President Trump, citing special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe.

Nunes, speaking at a closed-door event for Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Calif.) last Monday, said that “if [Attorney General Jeff] Sessions won’t unrecuse and Mueller won’t clear the president, we’re the only ones.”

“Which is really the danger … we have to keep all these seats,” he continued. “We have to keep the majority. If we do not keep the majority, all of this goes away.”

The audio was recorded by a member of the progressive group Fuse Washington, which paid to attend the event and provided the audio to MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show. Maddow aired the audio on her show Wednesday night.

His job is to be a check and balance on the Executive Branch. He was just caught on tape admitting that, if Sessions doesn’t recuse himself and Mueller doesn’t clear the Con Man, then he has no choice but to ruin the career and reputation of Rosenstein for the sole purpose of obstructing justice by ending the investigation on Don the Con’s behalf. Spineless Pauly had to take away Collins’ chairmanship today. Tomorrow spineless Pauly will have to remove Nunes which he should have long since done on ethical grounds. The Rethuglicans are imploding.

Of course, it wouldn't surprise me if Sessions "unrecuses" himself. But they sure have perverted every legal and constitutional and government concept, haven't they? Now, "recuse" apparently only means "unless I change my mind later."
