Washington Post: The Democratic Partys left-wing insurgency found its limits Tuesday night, with voters favoring establishment candidates over more liberal challengers in almost every closely watched race across several states.
Candidates backed by Emilys List, which endorses women and sometimes clashes with the left, bested left-wing challengers in three southeast Michigan districts; at least two are seen as toss-ups in November. Early Tuesday evening, just one Sanders-backed candidate in a competitive primary was in the lead; Brent Welder, a labor lawyer running in Kansass 3rd Congressional District, benefited from a crowd of five less-liberal candidates who split the vote.

(10,437 posts)america is not NOR EVER BEEN a left-center country but a center-left country, if you don't understand, study some history and take some political classes.
Where the problem arises, the "hardcore left" is almost as bad as the conservatives where its "my way or the highway approach" to almost all things. Thats why we saw Bush elected in 2000 and Trump in 2016

(42,862 posts)Frankly, I'll never understand why anyone (any candidate or any voter) thinks that STARVING is preferable to COMPROMISE. I guess it must be related to the vanity of being able to say to one's constituents "I was strong" or "I stood my ground". But in these types of "all or nothing" standoffs, it's the "NO" voters that typically win and the stubborn politicians bring home NOTHING.
All I'm saying is that it's NOT very "progressive" if there's not any progress being made at all. Remaining motionless (or moving in REVERSE) is the exact OPPOSITE of being "progressive". In contrast, finding common ground and moving forward (making progress) even if it's just a little bit... even if it's only gets us slightly closer to the ultimate goal... THAT IS PROGRESS. That's what an intelligent progressive would do.
