Until he's dragged from power, we're in deadly danger

About 30% of Americans are brain dead and in love with their orange idol. I can't explain what goes on in the heads of these people, nor will I try.

However, the rest of us know that the current occupant of the Oval Office is a madman. And because of the corrupt thugs who call themselves The Republican Party, we're all being fucked by a lunatic who is calling the shots from the White House. And those "shots" are whatever pops into the head of the orange imbecile at any given moment.

The Civil War was the most dangerous period for the survival of American democracy. I believe we are now in the second most dangerous period because we are ruled by criminals, and opposed by millions of fools who can't/won't see that their beloved "leader" is a maniac.

Yeah, I know. Let's all get out and vote in November. My feeling is we'll win big. But the new congress doesn't take over until January of 2019.

Which means the crazy guy has five more months of unrestricted rule. He can do just about anything he wants to do.

So here's my point: Hope that the "blue wave" happens and then hold your breath until next January.

Donald Trump is NOT a normal human being. He's a deranged would-be "god," (in his own mind), who is a danger to all of us. And given his "big button," he's a danger to the entire planet.

If/when he's dragged from power, an example must be made of him. This is no "Nixon pardon" situation. This is a man who has actively done everything possible to destroy our government, our country, our values and whatever morality we may lay claim to. He must pay a price for this. Imo, that price must be high. But that must be decided by the American judicial system.

at least of virtually unrestricted rule. I doubt the Democrats can win the Senate, and the House is the lesser of the two bodies. It will be truly scary once Trump reaches the realization that he no longer can retain the Presidency (if that moment ever comes before the 2020 election). I would not be surprised to see him sow as much chaos as possible at that point (pardons, firings, executive orders, irrational orders to the military).

Best case scenario would be a heart attack or stroke verifiable as a natural occurrence.
Next best would be a quiet 25th Amendment removal followed immediately by impeachment.

What will probably happen will be a corrupt bargain that would include a pardon for himself and the ability to hang onto his cash.

Do you think he'll go into immediate burn it down mode? Or will he try to throw us some legislative bones in an effort to try to get reelected? Maybe if he feels like he is backed fully into a corner he'll try to double cross Putin. He's too dumb to realize that he could do that and possibly succeed.

This is what we need to work for: taking both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

It's all about him, he could care less about anything else. (There's a great article about sociopaths vs antisocials today on DU btw.)

He will veto anything and everything a Democratic congress drops on his desk, and rule by occasional, random decree (executive order).

Most vetoes will be un-overridable. White house staff and the agencies will pilot their own directions and counter some of the craziness, as they do right now, but ineffectively and fitfully at best.

He will campaign relentlessly (that's all he's really good at anyway). He will have a new target, congress, to add to his anti-HRC and anti-press ranting.

It will be a constitutional crisis. Probably no budget and the federal government will cease functioning in many domains as a result. It will be a period that's a great opportunity for one of our enemies in the world to take the initiative.

I don't see we have much choice other than to take this medicine, however.

This concerted effort to dismantle all the mechanics of government is beyond the pale, IMO. There needs to be consequences for those that enter government service and actively sabotage it's functions.

I have been saying for some time now and truly believe that we are in the midst of a "civil war"... not the kind with guns and such (though there is a bit of that) but the kind of war that Russia is waging on us...

I think we need to call it what it is... I believe I am on the right and righteous side (as well as most here) and hope to god we win in the end...

Now, and the next 2-3 years are critical to the survival of democracy in this country, especially what happens to Congress, the Supreme Court, the stock market and much more.

All eyes are on Trump, but the only thing keeping Trump in check is the Judicial branch, led by the Supreme Court.

The GOP are just a small group of machavellian wealthy oligarchy intent on controlling power and money. Divide and brainwash the citizenry with wedge issues to get a base to the extent they vote against their interests, while quietly gaining control of power through nefarious means.

All they need is a majority far right wing GOP Supreme Court to gain control of all three branches. Cavanaugh is an extremist pick.

Unions Take a Hit After Supreme Court Ruling

Public-sector unions are facing steep falls in revenue and trying to prevent the loss of members in the wake of a recent Supreme Court ruling.

In New York, Pennsylvania and Illinois, state governments have stopped collecting millions of dollars in agency fees following a high court ruling banning the practice.

Before the ruling, public workers in 22 states who didn’t want to join a union were often required to pay agency fees, which cover collective bargaining costs and can equal as much as 90% of dues paid by members.

The ruling could erode the financial and political clout of public-sector unions, in part by prompting unions to divert funds once used for politics to the costs of running a union

He could do tremendous damage and potentially find some way to stop any move to impeach him even if Dems win the House. He needs to be removed now. Mueller needs to put out whatever he has now and hope there are enough reasonable Republicans to join with Democrats to remove this lunatic from the WH.
