Aide behind Melania's #BeBest campaign leaves after 7 months

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/08/aide-behind-melanias-bebest-campaign-leaves-7-months/

First lady Melania Trump’s top policy aide, Reagan Hedlund, resigned from her position, according to Politico.

Hedlund started working as Trump’s policy director in January. Hedlund says she plans to work on foreign policy issues, but did not provide further details.

“I am very grateful to the first lady for the opportunity to help launch her policy initiative,” Hedlund said. “It was a rare opportunity to contribute at such a high level. It was a difficult decision to leave. However, I have decided to return to my roots in the foreign policy world.”

First lady Melania Trump’s spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham confirmed the news.

“She is no longer with our office and we wish her our best,” Grisham said.

2. Stephanie Grisham's rather brusque comment

makes me think it wasn’t a particularly amicable parting. Hedlund might have had enough of Melania’s fake “Be Best” bullshit.

...from Day 1.

First, the name itself. Second, the ridiculous idea that Melanie herself would invest any time in the "program" at all, beyond a few personal appaearances and perhaps signing off on a fabulous new line of IvankaWear bearing the slogan.

Kind of the way Trump is changing his slogan from "MAKE America Great Again" to "KEEP America Great."

Meliania encouraged everyone to be best, and so now everyone apparently IS best, so just keep bein' best and we cut down the overhead of that program and invest it back into keeping America Great! Everyone wins!

Once you have achieved such dizzying heights, it's all downhill after that.

This is the Politico article:

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/08/03/melania-trump-policy-director-leaves-white-house-761886

The reporters are Daniel Lippman and Andrew Restuccia

The clicks should go to Politico, not Raw Story. The byline should go to Lippman and Restuccia, not "Dominique Jackson".

I would encourage people to look at the two stories side by side, take note of the rip-off, and stop letting Raw Story pull this crap.

17. Exactly. Melania Trump's "initiatives" are a joke.

They are announced and then you never hear about them again. I was shocked she made two trips to the border out of her "concern" for the children. Of course, there has been nothing but crickets after the trips.

Most useless FLOTUS in history.

Reagan Hedlund, a 28-year-old former executive assistant at the National Security Council who recently helped the first lady launch the “Be Best” anti-bullying initiative, departed last week, leaving already-skeletal East Wing staff even smaller.

Hedlund, who went by Reagan Thompson until she took her husband’s last name after their April wedding, told POLITICO that she plans to work on foreign policy issues. She declined to provide more details.

Hedlund previously worked for Mike Pompeo, now secretary of state, when he was on the Hill as a Republican congressman representing Kansas. Hedlund's father, Loren Thompson, now chief operating officer of the Lexington Institute, a public-policy think tank, worked in the Reagan White House in the presidential personnel office and also named his daughter Reagan.
